Useful Tips For Cleaning Vinyl Windows & Glass

How To Clean Vinyl Windows

Durable vinyl windows are designed to be virtually maintenance free, but can be cleaned if necessary. Be sure to read the manufacturer’s instructions and follow specific cleaning instructions to preserve the warranty protection.

Clean vinyl window frames and glass using a soft cloth and soapy water. After washing is complete, wipe the windows with a clean water rinse and dry them, again using a soft cloth. Do not leave soap residue on the window.

Warning: Do not use cleaning products that contain alcohol or ammonia, or any product that contains abrasives or harmful chemicals. Use of these products or methods could void your manufacturer’s warranty.

How To Clean Glass

Washing windows can be a frustrating and labour-intensive experience, but it doesn’t have to be. Achieving clean, streak-free windows is attributable more to the tools that are used than the amount of effort put into it. With the right supplies you can have sparkling, streak-free windows with much less work than you’d expect.

Hard water contains minute mineral particles. If you have hard water in your home, these tiny contaminants can remain on your windows after cleaning, causing streaks. Using distilled water may eliminate this problem, but the type of cleaner you are using may also play a role in causing streaks. A 50/50 solution of water and vinegar provides great protection against streaks; just spray it on and wipe it off as you would any cleaning product.

One drawback to the vinegar method is the smell. Vinegar does not have a pleasant aroma, so many people prefer to restrict its use to outdoor glass.
